I just noticed all of our Wordpress posts had become closed to commenting!!

First off there is no way this should happen and no way to turn them all back on (well other than running a database query)

I of course ran the query immediately, but now I'm very worried about the state of our database :confused:


Because this just should not goddamn well happen. I'd like to get to the bottom of what might've been the cause... but I'd probably have to register with Wordpress.org and file a forum post and hope someone answered (probably infinitely higher odds than getting a reply from Google's support forums -- google can't even tell me why search results for a search engine designed to search a site cannot appear on the same site!!)

Of course searching for a possible cause is useless. Just try to put wordpress, comments, closed, etc. into any search engine try to get anything remotely useful back (aint happening)

I wonder in general what will happen if our search algorithms don't become AI algorithms quick, because the more words/pages there are on the internet the more impossible it becomes to get meaningful results from searches based on the appearance of words alone :ninja:

PS: What happens when you try to use the "powered by Google" search on every page of digitaldevildb.com?

PS: There was another option there was no way to get at called "comment_registration" which was preventing people not logged in from commenting.... geez :doh:
