I'll do Raidou's first. Feel free to correct anything wrong.

Kuzunoha Raidou
Occupation: Devil Summoner (apprentice detective)
Age: 17
The protagonist of this game, a boy who inherited the title 'Kuzunoha Raidou the 14th', he has the task of protecting the Imperial Capital.
Under the cloak that envelopes his body, he carries his(trusty) sword and gun, and a tube to collect demons.
He works in Narumi Detective Agency as an apprentice, and collects info from various places all over the Imperial Capital. Whever a case is linked with demons, he takes care of it with his role of Devil Summoner.
He is a student in 'Yudzukinokimi Koutou Shihan Gakkou'(Shihan Gakkou means Normal School and it's a school where students are trained to be teaching staff) located in the Imperial Capital. His name 'Raidou', originated from one of the '4 Devil Summoners' who helped form the Kuzunoha clan which existed from long ago with the original forefinders. The Kuzunoha clan only gives the names of one of the 4 Devil Summoners to the member with the most ability in that generation(so Raidou isn't his real name).

There is a black cat always following him about.
In the special corner on the official site, Kazuma said that Raidou never takes his hat off even in the bath, and he still wears his cloak in the summer(to keep his weapons concealed). ^^;

Hehe, teito is the pronunciation for Imperial Capital... anyways, I surfed around today and found the name. Yudzukinokimi... I thought it would be 'yumitsuki' or 'kyugetsu' but I looked around and it was Yudzuki. According to some history text, Yudzukinokimi is the supposed ancestor of Hatashi and descendant of Chin Tse Huang.

Narumi
Occupation: Chief of Narumi Detective Agency
Age: Early 30s
He runs the Narumi Detective Agency which specialises in cases relating to the occult. It's located in a building called Ginroukaku in the Imperial Capital. He is Raidou's boss.
His motto is to be cheerful and aloof, and live carefreely.
Hence, he normally shows conduct such as letting Raidou do most of the work, and being particular to accepting jobs depending on how much the offer is.
However, he cannot overlook people in difficulty, and opposes people who take advantage of weak people for their own benefit with passion.
Furthermore, he has a surprising personal history, and has connections within the military and government.

Asakura Tae (Kichou)
Occupation: Reporter for the Teito Shinbou(Imperial Capital Newspaper)
Age: Early 20s
A female reporter working for the Teito Shinbou.
In the Taisho Era where females are treated with discrimination, she opposes this and with her competitive personality, she aims for the elevation of female status.
For luck(not too sure about this), she uses the handle Kichou because she looks up to Hirazuka Raichou(a more practical use is for circumstances where it'd be beneficial for others to not know her gender clearly).
Unlike most of the news reporters in the Taisho Era who employ youngsters to collect news and information for them, she goes to the actual scene herself to collect data, forming the modernistic method of producing her articles.
However, to avoid misunderstandings with prejudiced people, she personally wishes others not to call her 'Kichou-san' but 'Tae-chan', because it's more friendly. She is a charming and courteous person.
Other than being a reporter, she is also aiming to be an author of non-fictional folklore. For that purpose she pursues connections with bizzare events happening in towns or those relating to folklore. In the process, she came to frequent Narumi Detective Agency.

Has anyone played the previous Devil Summoner games? If so, maybe you guys can give us background information on them?

I played the first Devil Summoner but they don't really talk about the Kuzunoha Clan. Especially because we don't "really" play a Kuzunoha.
But there is an ancient civilisation book wrote by the dr. Azuma which is often quoted in the game and it's said something like that :
The incident/catastrophe/destruction writed in the hystory of the city of Hirasaki is a lie initiated by the Yamato dynasty long time ago, during the war against Yamato & others country.
The truth was that :
During the war in Hirasaki's field, there was a little and unknown country commanded by the Hata family (? not sure, it is probably the ancestors of the Kuzunoha ?? 秦氏 in kanji) where magic existed. But not only magic, they also have the possibility to use demoniac forces, and demoniac souls. Every generation of the Hata Family could did this.
Then the princess of the Yamato dynasty was said to be haunted by a demon's soul, so she was murdered by her family.
But the princess become an haunting ghost and start to produce fear in the Hirasaki city. Then she destroyed the entire city.
In the end of Devil Summoner 1 we fight the princess (she is called Inaruna) and the new destruction of the city was prevented.

I probably mistranslate some things and don't remember exactly everything, but it's pratically all the stuff that is said about the past in Devil Summoner 1.

Hmm I wonder if there is any new info in the 2 new scans from Famitsu :) Poor Narumi has a bloody lip and a black eye XD

Rotkappchen - Wow, thanks so much for the information! :D Hmm, I read somewhere that Rei's boyfriend is the one that takes the body of Kuzunoha Kyouji. Is this true? Also, is there in any about the Kuzunoha's in Soul Hackers? Or is that game just like a side story?

Ok it's an heavy spoiler from the begining of Devil Summoner 1 :
Rei is the partner of Kuzunoha Kyouji, the devil summoner. In the begining of the game you play as a normal guy who meet his girlfriend called Kumiko, but they both get attack by demons. So kyouji help them, then he is murder by Sid Davis. Then Sid Davis capture you and kill you too.
Then you go in Hell and meet Charon who reincarnates your soul in the Kyouji's body, for obscure reasons.
So you take his job as detective and must work as a devil summoner and find a way to recover your real body (and push back Kyouji's soul in his body).

So Rei isn't the girlfriend of neither Kyouji nor the guy of the beginning of the game (who got Kumiko (http://shindds.free.fr/artworks/devil_summoner/18.jpg) for girlfriend).

I really love the look of the characters in this game. It really screams out the time period.

I had seen the scans elsewhere (and now they're already posted here lol), but since I don't know anything aside from English (and some Latin) none of these really ever are of much use to me. I'm glad there's people here who can tell me what the hell is written on there lol.

Ok, I got the new Famitsu PS2(ToL overload D:). There's about four pages but of screens we have already seen before, maybe two or three are new(pretty sure there's some new infos though). They have Kaneko's Tae art with no text or boxes cluttered over her, too. I'll take pictures tomorrow. =P

According to Famitsu PS2, this game is 80% complete. A date hasn't been set but here's hoping it'll release sometime November '05-January '06.^^

Would've been cooler if the old guy was Mekata. And I'm pretty sure it's Gouto. Gout makes like, zero sense. (Gouto makes more sense because it's an actual name. Why they would name a cat after a foot disease is... wtf? So, yeah, I go with Gouto. Unless someone else has another idea.)

Oh man. It would've been waay cooler if they put in a Dog named "Pavlov". Hahaha, from Pavlov's Dog -- kind of like how DDS had Schrödinger, as named after Schrödinger's Cat. Haha...ha...Right. Well, I thought it was funny... v_v

Gouto is correct. Victor's name could also be spelled like Viktor(ビクター/ビクトル/ヴィクター/ヴィクトル...Wow, so many variations.^^) Anyway, the man scares me...I wonder what his role in this game is. o_o; I'm really curious about the battle system the most now...

This Victor(Vikutoru) guy, he has the same name as the guy in Soul Hackers who was dressed like a captain(that's what it says, except the captain guy is Bikutoru). And he's whom you go to to fuse your demons and get your party healed(ah more demon fusing! I'm gonna like this game).

And Gouto, the cat(AHHH another talking cat!!), seems to be a sort of adviser for Raidou? It says he(it) seems to know about the original Raidou. :o I'm hoping that the next update on the site will have new profiles for these characters.

I am so loving Raidou's character art(even though he has weird sideburns), thank you so much again for the scans. T^T In the earlier scans, they don't reveal much that we don't already know, except that Narumi seems to have been attacked by the soldiers they introduced in the previous issue, and that Tae and the others seem to not see the demons that Raidou summons. :o

No problem :D Yea my first thought of "Victor" was that he was related to the DS1/SH Victor since they have the same "eye line" thing, pale skin, and gray/silver hair going on, oh and name :D Also I wonder if Gouto is maybe the original Kuzunoha Raidou who lives forever possessing cats or animals or otherwise to advise the new Devil Summoners that come along in the future, or maybe he was the original Kuzunoha Raidou's familiar :)

Edit: yea from what I gathered from various info sources on the game, it seems only Raidou can see the demons he summons as well as see the demons that live in the cities with the humans, as well as being able to converse with them :) So hopefully people dont think he's crazy when it looks like he's talking to himself on the street ^^;;

Victor didn't heal your party in Soul Hackers. You had to either go to the place in the shopping center and spend a crapload of cash, or use the Heal Point in the Sea Ark building's Lobby.

I don't think radiokill was saying that Victor healed your party in Soul Hackers, instead was saying Victor healed your party in Devil Summoner.

In the first Devil Summoner, Victor can fuse your demons and sword in his manor. It's also Victor who give you the comp to summon demons in the beginning of the game.
He's also in the Soul Hackers akuma zenshô (with the digital novel about soul hackers in the disc) if you choose to see data about demons.

New character is shown, too. Rich school girl(like we all didn't see this one coming XD). She looks like a younger version of Naomi from Soul Hackers. D: A small translation of what my sister gave me.

She's the key to 'unlocking' everything I guess. Like you know Sera is the key to getting to Nirvana(yay for RPG clichés!)

Or maybe she told me accident, I don't remember. Something about her father, too. *needs to have a better memory*^^; She seems important though because she's being carried off by those men in red in one of the screens.

I think they'll be giving out DS1 wristbands(?) at the TGS this year if you bring in this(9/9) issue of Famitsu. This issue states that the game is 65% complete while last issue of FPS2 stated it was 85% complete. We can probably expect this game late in the year or early of next year.

Site has been updated with Victor and Kaya. Check out the column section and they have more details on them as well as Gouto. Victor is ooold. They even say the DS:SH Victor is about 200 years old(and stuff about vampires which is probably how he managed to live for so long). D: But I'm still not sure if they're the same ones of not. :<

Haha, did anyone notice the screen (http://www.atlus.co.jp/cs/game/pstation2/summoner/screen/screen005/screen005_009.html) where Raidou just leaves one of the school girls to the monster?^^; And after looking through the magazine, looks like we'll have 2-D maps again. Not sure whether VAing will be put in or not(my guess is not) but the game is back to 65% so who knows what they'll do.

Incidentally, (NOTE: Purely speculative) [SPOILER]what are thoe things that Raidou has in his hands? They look like Naomi's weaponry, which allow her to use OMGWTFAWESOME MAGIC. Seriously, Demon King's War is AWESOME. Anyway, I imagine that's what Raidou uses those sticks for (maybe?)... so like yeah, there maybe something going on here.[/SPOILER]

Up to eight people can play DS:KR which is better than last year because they only had two or three stands for DDS2 demos. =P *wants to play* I doubt I will...long lines! ;o;

I'll post some impression about the game laster you guys. It was fun despite the demo is really, really short.:( Still no release date announced either.

It'll probably be released sometime in February or so, I would guess (or maybe December?). Too bad it was short -- at least it was fun you said, right?

Now I'm interested. What was the style of play? How did the characters react? What would you say the soundtrack was like if you heard any part of it? Was it good?

I only played the boss gameplay so I'll talk about that. There was another mode, the story one but I didn't play it because so many other people did. Sad thing is, not a lot of people were at the Atlus Japan booth this year. I can't blame though, as this year the booth was really, really small. No stage and everything(*cough*Where were you Kaneko?! Yamai?!*cough*) Seems everyone anticipated DDS2 more than this one last year. Heck, a lot of people were anxious to play DS PSP(which I got bored of due to I had no clue what to do) than DS:KR.^^;

Music? I could *hardly* hear any music from the demo. Why? Because that big flat screen TV hanging up on the ceiling was really loud and well, a lot of people were talking. But the music from the new/longer trailer was good.^^ It's the same music on the short trailer on the official site except you know, longer.

From what else I remember, there's no VAing in this game(*sad*) so anyone who liked Nocturne silent well, there you go. Moving mouths but no actual words coming out. I guess it fits the atmosphere more? I just wonder how they're going to do the FMVs dialog(probably dialog windows or something).

Boss gameplay gives you a fight right away. If I remember, the menu will pop out if you click R1 but I'm not sure. I didn't bother to try out the buttons "square" and "triangle". You can walk around freely on the battle screen(no wait) and attack anytime you want. I used Raidou's gun and sword most of the time(haha, just don't point the gun in the wrong direction like I kept doing. You get limited amount of bullets.) You can summon out one demon at a time and they mostly just healed me or attacked the boss. I didn't bother to look on how you or your demon can cast spells and other stuff though. Uh, the demons you call out in battles can also talk to you. =P But I think they just growl or say random things. Once you killed the boss the demo is over.

As for the other mode, it starts off with Narumi talking and then is shows frames of the scene where Kaya(rich school girl) gets kidnapped by those men in red. Anyway, the sun is shining and you're out in town now. Time to talk to that detective outside the office. Not sure I remember but he gives you hints/info(the hints/info are in yellow) about finding a young girl(or was it girls?). After, Raidou will call out a demon and I'm sure whatever demon you called out cast a fire spell(or maybe it could just be Jack O'Lantern though some did call out Mokoi when that happened) on the detective. This is the part where you're suppose to laugh? Raidou's the only one who can see demons so I guess while he was screaming, he was clueless as to why he was on fire?

So you wander around town and get random battles while you're looking for these two girls(which aren't far). Talk to them and one gets mad. I think this is the part where Gouto suggest to summon out another demon. I remember the old lady(yes, grandmas and grandpas can get their game on, too) called out Mokoi and he'll cast a spell on the girl. She'll then tell you infos and you have to find another girl named Rin(popular name in games these days?). After you talked to her, the demo ends and it'll show two screens featuring shots of the game. Pretty nice. (Yes, Mokoi was the most popular demon to summon out. He walked like he had to go to the bathroom or something.)

Demo was pretty short considering the other ones shown at the game show. More stuff on other TGS sighting I posted over here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/argilla).

I'm still hoping some sites will put up the longer trailer(shown on the big screen). No gaming sites have thrown up any information on Raidou. I don't blame them though since TGS was showing a bunch of games. Can't be so many places at once right?

The movies are a bit blurry (understandably), but they give the best view of the game in action that I've seen thus far. The battle system looks incredibly entertaining.

DS:KR is featured in the new Famitsu Weekly and PS2 so I'll check that out this weekend. Hopefully it'll have some new infos because the last updated lacked. Though some questions were interesting I guess. Maybe a release date will be confirmed this time around?

Here's some of what Kouli posted about it from a Famitsu issue:
"Famitsu got more info. Some are old. Demons can award you items, and there is also the royalty level which is for demon fusion. In battle, you can command your demon to use skills or change tactics. Demons can also learn skills. Some tactics are like use physical attack, use magic attack, support with healing, conserve MP...etc

Once you hit a demon's weakness, the demon will freeze, you can go near and hit Circle continuously. The demon's life meter will chance to the Seal-Demon Meter. Keep pressing til finished, then you capture it. But without enough Magnetite and your level is lowerer than the demon, you will fail."
