Title: Items straight from Japan (Online Shop)
Post by: makemydayfriday on May 10, 2007, 08:36:21 AM
For those of you looking for items only available in Japan
but unable to purchase it because:
a) you can' t speak Japanese, or
b) the shop doesn't handle international shipping, or
c) both (a) and (b)

Go to Japan Toy: http://www.japantoy.biz (http://www.japantoy.biz)

This is an online shop run by a Japanese Ebay
merchant (who of course is residing in Japan) and
supports international shipping.
The shop owner is a reliable Ebay Power Seller which means
that your transactions will be safe and hassle-free.

Do not be misled by the name. The store sells a variety of
Japanese items (not only toys).

Services offered:
1) Proxy bidding to Japanese auction sites
2) Online shopping support for Japanese online stores
3) Online Shop (JapanToy's own online store)
4) Item find support

For more on this merchant's credentials, see:

I don't know if this is just an advertisement post or what, but I don't really care lol. The place seems worth giving attention.

I requested something through the site that I just couldn't find anywhere. A little over a day later I had a response.

They had found both a used and new copy of the book. Both of them were well priced. I've not dealt with the shipping aspect yet, but from what I've seen I'm not concerned.

Some of the requesting stuff is a bit confusing (requesting an item is free, but it directed me to a Paypal payment place and you can't just put in 0 yen... I just closed it, apparently it went through fine), but that's about all I have to "complain" about so far.

Still, it worked well overall so far. So, seriously, thanks for pointing this site out. Assuming I receive the item relatively soon (I just paid and I think there's some more steps), I'll be extremely happy with the experience. I'll let every one know.

I think it is an advertisement. The exact same post was posted in another thread here. I forget which, though.

Yeah, I noticed that too lol. Normally I'd have a problem with it, but this is a nice way to test this out. It seemed promising.

At this stage I've paid for the used book. I was e-mailed back saying that they will have the book this week, upon which point they'll give me the shipping and handling cost. I'm not sure what to expect there, but I've done so many Japanese based auctions and purchases that I think I'm prepared for it.

Let's hope it goes well. :rambo:

Yes, we noticed this glitch in the system.
My apologies for the inconvenience it caused you.
This problem is now in the process of getting fixed.
Thank you for the feedback.

Do you write in something similar to a haiku, or am I going crazy? O_o

Haha.

Well, in any case, I got my book and it's pretty damn awesome. It has more in it than I expected.

They actually got a copy in sooner, but apparently it was a total mess and they went and found another one. I thought that was nice. Obviously there's a fee to find the book, to buy the book and then to ship it... It's somewhat pricey, but I guess that goes with the territory. My only other option would be to fly there and get it myself.

Once they had the book, though, I got it like two days later. I usually don't even get stuff within the US that quickly lol.

So, anyway, good experience overall.
