Title: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? Post by: Heat on September 25, 2005, 09:29:42 PM I was wondering, does anyone know who did the [English] voices for the various Persona 2: Eternal Punishment characters? I can't really find anything. I'm, specifically, interested in finding out who did Tatsuya Sudou's voice -- I think his voice, arguably, was the best in the game.
I had just heard this (http://www.devilbuster.net/gaschamber/bitch.mp3) clip from DDS, and thought it sounded a bit like Sudou (only less maniacal), so, that got me interested in wanting to know who did Sudou's voice. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? Post by: Tony on September 27, 2005, 11:29:05 AM I never got around to writing down the credits from Persona 2... do you know if they may be there? I have a save near the end of the game and I'll try that out when I have time to play it again. Who knows when that'll be though lol.
Otherwise, Atlus seems to have this thing for not listing voice actors in the credits that I do not understand. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? Post by: Heat on September 27, 2005, 11:36:41 AM I've never beaten Eternal Punishment (only Innocent Sin), so, I've not a clue whether the voices would be in the credits or not. I doubt it, though. If anything, they'd probably just list the agency or something. I've only been able to find who did the English voice for Ulala, on IMDB.

Meh, it's not like anyone would really care to know the DDS voice actors. They kind of did a... Shitty job. To say the least. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? I have to disagree with that. After they gain their emotions back, the voices were very well done, I felt. Sure, I don't know that it's up to like the quality of an excellent film, but it's certainly up there with some of the better game voice overs I've heard. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? Sure, I don't know that it's up to like the quality of an excellent film, but it's certainly up there with some of the better game voice overs I've heard. I thought they were all pretty much hideous and over-the-top ("that's the point"). I won't go through all of them, but I'll just throw out two examples: Cielo and Argilla. Cielo's accent is hideous -- I've heard better faux-accents in Resident Evil. Argilla always sounds like she just took a hit of weed or something, and her demon form sounds like a teenage boy. What sucks is, I liked Cielo's voice before he had that accent (assuming he's the one that says "Leader" in the beginning). To be fair, I didn't like the Japanese voices, either. I still think they could've done a better job casting voices. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? I thought DDS had really good voices. Excluding Cielo's phony accent, of course. I actually liked them better than the Japanese ones. I thought the Japanese ones are way too dramatic. :/ Didn't like it. And I think Heat is the one who say "leader" in the beginning. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? I only liked Sudou's [english] voice in EP, as it was extremely over-the-top, and weird. I don't care for Japanese voices, and I found DDS to have hideous voice acting. Cielo's was definitely the worst (http://www.devilbuster.net/gaschamber/creepy_cielo.mp3) in the game. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? But he was supposed to be particularly silly in that clip. Even though he's silly anyway. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? What bothers me is, why don't they just GET someone who actually HAS the accent they want, and get them to voice the character? Eh, it doesn't matter much, though, as I don't listen to the voices. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? Post by: Nuu on October 11, 2005, 01:06:35 AM What kinda bothered me was why he needed the accent in the first place.
I mean, it's sorta like how his uh... previous persona is being surfaced after the awakening or whatever, but we don't see argilla gaining phony Japanese accents. I think they should've at least gotten someone who knows how to speak whatever language his accent is supposed to be in, because then they would've faked a better accent. I just thought the accent was annoying. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? (or South Something) His accent seemed to have fluctuated between different accents -- I swear, sometimes he sounded Jamaican. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? Nah, it wasn't entirely Jamaican. As I said, it fluctuated -- it sounded really awkward... Though, I'm pretty sure it was said he was South American, if that's so, they could've gotten someone with a South American accent to do his voice? Of course, this is Atlus we're talking about... They can't even make a decent dialogue font after over 10 years of localizing games. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? Post by: Nuu on October 11, 2005, 01:17:28 AM Well, it prolly would've costed more? I don't know.
In any case, I didn't think the voiceacting was that bad. Especially Angel. Her voice was awesome. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? I'm not even gonna highlight that. But I'm hoping it's not what I think it is. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? Cheese. Yes, cheese. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? Post by: Heat on October 11, 2005, 03:09:10 AM Quote from: Nuu It's cheese, isn't it? Cheese. Yes, cheese. NO, I ALREADY SAID "QUACK", THEREFORE, IT IS A DUCK. Or a Penguin. I'm not sure what sound a Penguin makes, so, I think it's safe to assume that they could, in fact, make a "Quack" sound, much like that of a duck. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? But let's steer this conversation away from angel's quack. So that it'll still be relatively on topic: Lunar 2 (eternal blue complete) has the worst voiceovers I've ever heard. Well, maybe not the WORST, but still pretty bad. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices? Post by: Heat on October 11, 2005, 04:12:49 AM Quote from: Nuu I think penguins make more of a "honk". I've said this numerous times to people, but I think the game with the best English voice acting would be Dark Cloud 2. A lot of big-name actors did voices -- not just people who did only voice acting, but people who did actual acting. Like Luke Skywalker, whose name escapes me, but I'm content with just referring to him as Luke Skywalker. Title: Re: Persona 2: EP's English Voices?
