As you all should know Persona 3's "release date" is officially tomorrow, August 14th. It's likely your local retailer won't see it for another day or so afterward, so just give them a call if you've pre-ordered locally. Unlike Devil Summoner and Digital Devil Saga, it appears even retailers like Best Buy will be carrying this game. . . at least on their web sites. If you've not pre-ordered already, I would suggest you do so tonight.

If you're still not sure, I suggest you check out Metacritic. The overall score from all submitted professional reviews puts the game at 88 out of 100 currently, which is quite good.

As for our review, I've unfortunately not finished the game yet. I am, however, a good 45 or so hours into it and thus feel safe posting my overall thoughts on it so far. I have no intention of attaching a score, but it might be a good read if you want some more input on the game. To keep it short: I really like it.

You can check that out here, if you so desire. Expect the Persona 3 section to expand more in the coming weeks as I (and others) progress through the game. The character and Persona sections will be revamped (hopefully to provide indepth info to those who want it, without spoiling every one else), just to give an example.

I'm hoping my Gamestop gets it in the afternoon, we're about an hour away from Atlus HQ. I can't wait!

I called my GS earlier, they're getting it tomorrow, the Gamestop Guy didn't even try to say Shin Megami Tensei lawlz.

Yeah, haha, a similar thing happened to me when I was calling Gamestops to find copies of DDS 1 and 2. One of the people that answered the phone had a reaction that was funny.:P

"Hey, do you guys have Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga?"
"Woah, woah, woah, hold on there buddy. What did you say?"

Another one:
"Hey, do you guys have Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga?"
"Hold on" *Takes 10 minutes*
"Yeah, we have Shin... Devil Summoner"
"No, Digital Devil Saga"
"Oh, we don't have that"

Something similar happend to me. When I enter the game shop I always ask for Megaten games, for example, the last time like 2 months ago, the person goes near me and ask me if I was looking for a game in special, and I say to him, "Do you have Persona 3" and then he say, "Oh, let me check!" he run to the room with a lot of games, and then walks to me and say me, "Sorry, I already sell that game, yesterday".

What an awfull but funny answer, since Persona 3 hasn´t come out till that date. Oh well...

That sucks.

I'm glad I bought the strategy guide earlier at another GS, the one I got my game at had no more...

I don't understand why people buy strat guides instead of just going to gamefaqs. Can someone tell me the difference? Or do people just not like reading all that text?

Well, you know, Strategy guides often include character art and such, and it's also nice to look at, let alone considering it collection.

I bought it mostly for the pretty pictures, but now I'm glad I bought it for the FAQs. >_>

Here are my spoiler free impressions. If you hate reading more then just a couple of paragraphs though you might want to steer clear. It is the main chunk of my ign review only better edited. lol.

Yeah, I picked up a copy the other night...
I had connections to probably get it for free but it would've taken awhile and I wanted to start playing it as soon as I could. :O It's soooooo much fun.

It was good sportsmanship to buy the game though you had connections. I'm hoping Atlus makes a lot of profit off P3 so they'll eventually make P4 or at the very least bring over Fes. Of course by the time that occurs it'll likely be on an expensive "next gen" system. Only continuations of Persona,Nocturne,and Digital devil would make me consider buying a PS-3. I wasn't even excited by teasers of Devil May Cry 4 and Metal Gear solid 4. Perhaps in my older age I'm getting tired of certain franchises.

Despite announcing SMT for PS3, I'd not be surprised if they went with the Wii for a majority of their titles. They're not a massive company, it would save them money and the Wii (for better or worse) is just way too popular there to ignore.

The only conflict  Atlus would have with wii is Nintendo doggedly tries to project itself as a "family friendly" console. Hell, I was surprised when Resident Evil 4  hit the game-cube first. However the two companies always had a decent relationship and I'd rather Shin Megami Tensei games come out for the wii then for  the PS 3.

Didn't find any FAQ or help page to go to, so since this is about the Persona 3 first impressions, I'll put it all here.

Alright, first impressions.  I received this game as a gift from a friend of mine.  Once it was in my hands, still packaged with the sealed plastic, I was basically bouncing off the walls.  Very excited.  I open it up, and take out the art book first, since this was what caused the first delay.

Art book was gorgeous.  Simply put, I was very satisfied flipping through the pages and reading up on the little tidbits of information about each character's development.  Once I had reached the end of the art book, the CD containing the original soundtrack landed gently unto my lap.  This was another wonderful moment in my life, listening to the entire soundtrack.  It was really worth the wait.

Then I go to open up the actual game container itself.  The first thing I notice is that the game itself is not there.  The instruction manual is present, but the game CD is nowhere to be found.  

So now, I'm here, writing about it.  Completely baffled, with no idea as to how it could've happened.  The box set was still sealed in the plastic.  Perhaps it was an error that occurred during packaging?  Is there any way to prove this preposterous circumstance to possibly be sent a game CD?

To conclude, those are my first impressions.  Overjoyed about the artbook and original soundtrack, but completely distraught by the lack of actual game CD itself...

:frown: Wow what a sad story! Damn, is there a way you can talk with the store were you buy it? Maybe if you hold the ticket that prove that you buy it, maybe they can replace the CD, I dont know, "When There´s a will, There´s a Way. Good Luck!!:axeman:
