Title: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: Emilio Morales on October 27, 2007, 12:44:16 AM
Ok, here you`ll post all the errors when you want to play IMAGINE, for example: "IMAGINE does not start, instead of that, it gives me an error message and then it quits"

Please if you have a problem in the game, be sure to check all the thread so that we don`t have repeated problems. Maybe you`ll find the solutions to your problems, if not feel free to ask.

If you can support you problems with images, it will be better!!

Of course, the day I try to set up AppLocale for this I realize that I can't find my old XP disc.

Is there some other way to install East Asian Language support? I'm imagining not.

It should be easy enough if you don't mind all apps running in a locale. I'm unfamiliar witth AppLocale. I'm assuming it lets you assign locales to applications. There is probably a way to do that from the cli, but Windows is notorously undocumented and counter-intuitive in such respects.

I tend to run all of my windows installs with a Japanese locale. The only perceptible difference is your backslashes will look like a special japanese character which is better at dividing japanase characters.

To do that you just need to use the control panel to change locales, but if you don't have a windows disc you might be out of luck for installing required fonts and the Japanese IME if you didn't do this when installing Windows.

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: Tony on November 30, 2007, 03:29:00 PM
Yeah, the problem is basically that the fonts aren't set up at all since I can't check East Asian support without it asking for the disc... and if you don't have them installed, Japanese just shows up in AppLocale as a bunch of boxes unfortunately.

I'll have to try and find the disc.

Is not for promote piracy but if you can´t find your Windows XP disc, why don´t you download it, there maybe a place where you can download those kind of discs, and if you think about it, you buy and own the "Windows XP" disc so there will be no problem is you download it somewhere.

Just an opinion... :read:

I have a question:

Can I loose my Imagine account if I stop playing the game for a while?

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!

Nope you thankfully don`t lose your account. I didn`t play for 3 months during the college semester and found my account waiting eagerly for my return.

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!

Thanks! Cause I already uninstall it from my PC, cause I needed extra space, and I was afraid if I spent some time without playing, they will erase my account.

Whenever I load the patcher, I get this error: http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/6640/120564827787ji4.gif
It's a maintenance error, but the server isn't down for maintenance because a friend of mine made an account today and managed to patch, login, and play just fine.

Is there any way to fix this?

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!

Keep trying to update. It usually hangs up on me the first time after an update and might hang up in the middle too. If that doesn't work, try hitting the double check button. It looks like maybe some of your files are corrupted or locked.

I can't click anything, though. The buttons are greyed out. :/

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: yksehtniycul on March 18, 2008, 03:23:51 PM
I dunno, you might try to find the hashlist.dat file (if it is stored locally -- ie. on your disk) and move it somewhere (then put it back if the game doesn't fix itself)

Worst case scenario you might have to re-install/patch (speaking of which I'm going to have to do that myself later this week, so I feel ya)

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!

You can't find it locally, and I've already redownloaded the game twice. It still gives me the hashlist error.

Hmm... it looks like you're still using the old updater (unless it changed back since the last time I was able to play about a month ago) ...one of the patches should've given you a different executible. Is there some reason you're using the old one still?

Make sure your date/time is set right on your computer. It looks like your browser can't find the page it is looking for there. I dunno what to say. Just make sure you completely uninstall Imagine before re-downloading/re-installing.

I wasn´t feeling like making a new thread for this silly little question, but: IMAGINE cannot longer be downloaded from the official site? I just see this "MiLauncher" thing, and I don´t know what to do with it (I´m afraid the CD where I saved the IMAGINE application is corrupted or something like that, and I wanted to download it AGAIN O___O )

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: Enid on April 16, 2008, 12:19:52 AM
Just go ahead with the MiLauncher, download it....run the .exe file and it will install Imagine for you.

It's basically their new way of getting the game instead of how they did it before.

I guess this whole process needs to be updated from how it was originally told months ago.

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: yksehtniycul on April 16, 2008, 02:21:19 AM
The installer is pretty inconvenient if it likes to timeout on you, as it has no resume feature. I know there are places that host a version of the game you can download/resume to install, but I'm not sure if you should trust it if you don't install untrusted stuff from the web on your network.

The application installed seems to be the same as the post beta file tree. Prepare for a massive string of updates afterwards. Fortunately they do resume after timeouts.

Thanks Enid, thanks yksehtniycul!! =D I´m gonna try it and I will tell you what happen. (I want to play IMAGINE as soon as possible!!)

EDIT: BTW, if I install the first application I downloaded (which is the installation program) do I need to updated it for too long? Cause I imagine, since then, a whole new updates have been made with the game itself.

Waiting like 12 hours for the game to be installed with the MiLauncher...

Yes,you need to update...otherwise the game won't let you in.

You'll get some error/message on the login screen talking about the client.

Sorry for the doble post :P

Well, I was able to save the IMAGINE application from the "corrupted DVD" and I install it already, but I´m getting these kind of errors when I try to run the ".client" and the ".update" and they´re go like this:

1) When I run the Update, I get the "404 Not Found" nottification.

2) When I run the Client, I get these 2 errors one after the other.

First error.
Second error.

I was wondering, if these errors are because of the maintance? Or maybe a problem with the DirectX (I have the "Latest plug in" of the DirectX). And another thing, when I run the Applocale, I can´t get the part when you click a checkbox for a "shortcut" of the selected program, but I guess is no problem, since the Applocale says to me, that my pc is able to run the application without problem.

If anyone can help me with this, thanks in advance! :)

Only thing that I can point out is....you still have an older version of Imagine, the most recent and up to date version is 1.141.

Yeah, is pretty old :( But it began with the updates until now :) I think I shall wait a LONG time before I can play! Thanks =D

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: yksehtniycul on April 18, 2008, 12:21:45 AM
That error is saying your graphics adapter isn't up to spec. You'll need PS2.0 hardware or better. If you were able to play before you should still be able to. But if you changed your graphics card you either need a new one, or should use the one you played with before. Might also be you haven't installed your drivers and directx, but less likely than you just need a game oriented card.

Any machine sold with Vista Home Premium should probably be able to play. PS2.0 is a fairly ancient spec requirement in PC time. If you're on a desktop, you should be able to buy a card for about  30$ USD or less that would meet the basic requirements.

PS: The 404 is normal when installing fresh, though you'd think someone at Cave would've noticed that by now, but IMAGINE is riddled with these types of errors. Just ignore them and forge ahead. Now and then they are fixed from update to update. The latest update client fixed a number of such misleading message dialogs.

Post by: Emilio Morales on April 18, 2008, 07:39:09 AM
O_O Ok, thanks for the info. Well I haven´t changed anything from my pc since the last time I played IMAGINE, but like you say, If I was able to play before then I shall be able to play now. I think I shall wait for the updates to finish.

BTW, I get this "Windows need to close the program" thing when I run the game and I can´t see anything except the option and text on the profile page, maybe is because of the updates?

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: yksehtniycul on April 18, 2008, 10:38:20 AM
You probably wanna make sure you have the actual drivers for your graphics installed and search out the latest version of directx for your system. If it is Vista, it installs and updates DX10 itself I think.

I dunno what to tell you about the your other message there. I can't really follow your situation as described. For instance, what is "the option and text on the profile page?"

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: Emilio Morales on April 18, 2008, 11:19:42 AM
I´ll re-install the graphics drivers again.

And sorry for not being so especific, what I mean, is that when I run the Imagine.client the log on screen appear, after I input my ID and PASS, the "profile" or "character" screen appears and the list of profiles and channels, etc. The problem is, that I can only see, the text boxes, and options, so in other words, I can choose a profile, a channel and then accept and enter the game, but the whole screen is black (and is supposed to show the character standing) except for the options I can "click". And if I choose my profile and then enter the game, the screen stays in the same place and nothing happens.

Does it has to do with the updates?

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: yksehtniycul on April 18, 2008, 11:53:40 AM
Sounds like graphics issues. If it isn't updated, it shouldn't start. If you can access your display options in game, you might try turning them down a notch or two. Try the game in windowed and fullscreen mode, etcetera. You probably don't have the newest drivers installed (download them)

What is your OS? Are you using a laptop or desktop? If you're on a desktop with an 8x agp port or PCIexpress graphics card port and you think your motherboard is ok, you might wanna buy a new graphics card.

Just maybe you can manually adjust some of your graphics settings via your Windows control panel or the advanced button in the display mode dialog which accesses your graphics cards feature set.

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: Emilio Morales on April 18, 2008, 12:06:57 PM
I´m using a Desktop with "Windows XP Service Pack 2" I will try to play the game at different resolutions cause I´m playing with the windowed mode and the last time I was using Full Screen mode and it runs "normally".

So the problem is not the updates but with the graphic card and/or drivers. Ok, once I get home, I´ll try to change the resolution and the window settings. Thanks =D

Hi I'm new the boards so just throw that out there for anyone that cares.

My problem with Imagine is as follows. So I downloaded this bad boy and was all like "Oh wow I'm excited, this could be loads of fun." So I start up the game and I'm playing and having a good time. What could go wrong? Well after five minutes of playing everything just slows down to epic proportions. Every time that I try to play as soon as I hit 3-5 minutes It slows to the point where it takes 1 minute just so I can turn to get to the door i want to go in. It unbearable.

I really want to play this game, but if things continue like this, My dream will never be fulfilled. So basically I wanna know how to fix it.

By the way I have the same problem with sims 2. Works fine for a while a while then it's like everybody suddenly entered a slo-mo dimension.

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: yksehtniycul on April 29, 2008, 02:18:16 PM
Well if it feels like slow motion, then it is a performance issue and you should list your PC's specs to the best of your ability. If it feels like you're getting kicked around then it's your internet connection's doing, in which case you might wanna describe the network you connect to the internet from, or call your ISP and have a talk.

editted: Most likely you'll wanna invest in a RAM module or two.

Sorry, Greek to me

My guess is alt+tab means the Vista "page flipper" doohicky? If so it doesn't give me any trouble. Are you in fullscreen mode?

With Vista many actions will cause the game to disappear. Afaik however, this is because Vista changes to admin mode.

If you're trying to use another app, I'd try the Windows icon key and go from there.

Ok, I made a character last night and I made it on the new server I think it's "Cerberus" or whatever that dog/lion thing is. When I login I'm in a room with a woman wearing a visor and a gray lion thing but when I talk to the woman she just showed me a picture with an arrow pointing towards the rotating totem pole in front of me, so I talk to it and advance the dialogue and talk to her again and she just repeated herself about 10 times. Then when I talk to her she doesn't say anything. All paths outside this area are met with a "DB!" message which I assume means I'm blocked until I complete whatever this tutorial requires. Did I pick the wrong server or something? Extremely frustrating.

Sounds like you are doing that Act Zero,I remember doing it when I made a character around that time Act Zero was first put into the game.

Just go to gamefaqs.com,and look for the Quest Guide:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/921999.html

Look for "Act Zero-The Sin of Weakness" in the guide. And it will basically tell you what you need to do to get out of there,it really doesn't take that long either.

I invited a friend of mine to play IMAGINE, but he isn't able to download the installation program from the IMAGINE site. His laptop has Windows Vista and when he is at the 99.99% of the download an error ocurrs and the file doesn't download itself. He told me that an error in Japanese kanjis appear and with the phrase "Conection Timeout" and he was asked a "YES" or a "NO", if he choose "NO" the download tried once again to finish but the same message appears after a few minutes, and if he choose "YES" the download just stops.

Do you think that's an error with Vista or with the program itself? Any solution for these?

Title: Re: <HELP> Troubleshooting!!
Post by: yksehtniycul on September 15, 2008, 11:06:05 PM
That can happen :frown:

This is a real disappointing aspect of IMAGINE's execution. My guess is your friend was just unlucky that he got so far before it happened.

Since you're having trouble, I suggest the link on this page:

http://dbdb.digitaldevildb.com/wiki/index.php?title=Installing_and_Patching_IMAGINE™

If you can find the partial file the installer was trying to download in your temporary folders maybe?? Then you might be able to get a download manager to resume it. At any rate, if you download from that link, you can resume your download if it times out (the installer can't resume -- also you will still wanna make sure the way you choose to download it can)
