Anyone wanna come up with a "favicon" for us?

I recommend something simple. A Jack Frost head, Seal of Solomon, or something of this nature.

Also be prepared to not be pissy if your favicon isn't adopted / used in perpetuity :hearton:

A long time ago, someone made a gif of Hitoshura summoning Serph but unfortunately the image isn't there, that would be cool to use as a favicon, but I guess it was too big to be a favicon.

The favicon should be generic enough to be apart from any single game/series :rainbow:

I boosted the face off the back of the P3 tarot cards from the animated gif in that same thread. Just to see how it might work. 16x16 seems to be the defacto standard. That's a real crunch :nolaff:

Oh, I was just seeing if it would work. I actually had some trouble with it, believe it or not.

The gif is actually 32x32 so it get's resized:

If you wanna, you can try to turn the little man into an favicon for us. If you can figure out how to make an ico file that'll work. But I think a gif is ok too -- and possibly more politically correct not being a Microsoft format. 16x16 seems to be the only usable size still. I can't think of another damn thing that would fit in so few pixels. These icons go back to Megaten2, so it's kosher as far as I'm concerned. And probably the best idea we'll come up with :smug:

PS: If you use a gif you can even try to animate him :hearton:

Those are the exact pixels used in Megaten2 as well. There are six icons from MT2 (from my manual)

Don't worry about an ico version.

But I would like you to try to make a whiter one somehow. That's the traditional colour. Whether with an outline, background, drop shadows, or whatever you can come up with, if there is wiggle room.

Actually if there isn't room for anything fancy, I think just straight white will work. All the browsers but IE have enough sense to not put the icons on a white background. This site really isn't very IE compatible anyways.

edited: Also looks like IE might only honor .ico files, so fuck it. It should just get it's shit together or die at this point anyhow.

offtopic: While I'm at it, another thing that pisses me off about browsers, is they can't even automatically download fonts when a website wants to use them! I guess that is space age technology...

Yeah, I just inverted the image because I thought a white one wouldn't show up in the url bar.  I could put it on a black background if you want...  It might look better as a square anyway.  I just don't think putting a shadow on it is an option though.  I mean I could try but I'm guessing it would look like a weird blob.  An outline might work...  I'll tool around with it this afternoon.

EDIT:  I'm pretty sure the nakama icons in Raidou are yellow but it would probably clash with the overall look of the site.

It's just an icon decal. Won't show up on the site. I still think just straight white is fine. But I'd like to see the other angles if anyone wants to play around with it.

Yup, the black is just an outline.  It looks a lot better than I thought it would.

Awesome... it's the forum icon now. I'll have to figure out Wordpress later. If you can make an ico file I think if it's in the top directory it will get legacied in and work with IE :smokin:

I had to install a plug-in but it took like 2 seconds.

Hmmm... looks like the only browser that recognized the ico file was Google's new Chrome browser :frown:

Perhaps I need to setup an .htaccess file on the server for Apache or something. Even though the only legitimate webpages should be Wordpress and the BBS, I'd rather not have to deal with it on a page by page basis.
