Title: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: yksehtniycul on September 20, 2008, 12:27:47 AM I never really understood Myspace myself. Doesn't help I've never figured out how the hell people make their pages all visual
I guess to me it seems a nuts idea that random people would socialize this way / maintain personal blogs / micromanage webs of friends. Most people hardly have enough time to impact the world, much less write about themselves / keep track of everyone else at the same time right? On the other hand, I think it just might be a practical way to make and document a web of interests (rather than people!) Which is why I was disappointed there was nothing close to a Megaten tribute page in all of Myspace! So Anyone else feel like there should be a Megaten tribute profile on Myspace?? More importantly, anyone up to doing the deed? :smokin: Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: DevilRy on September 22, 2008, 01:56:43 PM Myspace is kind of on its way out as far as social networks go. Skype is the new thing I guess though I admit I haven't checked it out yet myself.
Myspace is also more about social networking than anything else. I could see someone maybe putting up a Myspace Music profile and uploading songs from the games (in fact I'd be surprised if there isn't one already). There might even be a Megaten group too but honestly I try to reserve Myspace sheerly for personal contacts and people I know directly. It's kind of like the hipster's Rolodex I guess. Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: yksehtniycul on September 22, 2008, 02:03:26 PM Skype is a digital telephony protocol afaik??
I doubt Myspace is realistically on it's last leg. Besides I'm all for totally abusing Myspace... or inciting abuse at least. I'm a little shocked many topics/organizations don't have their own tribute page. Who says you can't be a friend of a thing after all? Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: DevilRy on September 22, 2008, 02:12:29 PM That's not what I'm saying so much as Myspace isn't really designed for what you're talking about. I mean you could conceivably do it, but I guarantee there already is some form of Megaten fandom already on Myspace, be it in a Group listing, a music profile, or individual profiles for the characters - I'm sure it already exists, just in a different form than a generic Megaten profile listing.
Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: yksehtniycul on September 22, 2008, 02:39:08 PM I get the point... or I realized as much from post one. Still seems like a no-brainer to me. I'm sure Final Fantasy has a tribute page

Post by: DevilRy on September 28, 2008, 12:13:28 AM The Mara and Louis Cypher profiles are actually pretty cool...?
Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: yksehtniycul on September 28, 2008, 12:39:21 AM Yeah, I had to take another look now...
I caught the Nocture pseudo Mara fight. Apparently you can fight Mara, but the summon fails so you end up fighting a Mara version of a slime. Megaten is totally losing it's edge as we creep into the 21st century. It's funny how in the states this sort of content is becoming slightly more acceptable. While in Japan, where the video game industry really started off the back of pornography is becoming increasing neutered in terms of mainstream titles. I want testicle physics damnit  He doesn't seem to have the SMT1 concept artwork. Off the chariot... I'm pretty sure that was SMT1?? Someone should send him a copy. Something tells me the chariot is an elaborate way to hide his boss sized balls, but it's cool enough in and of itself :aroused: (http://a428.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/78/l_847819dcad166df68958879c32247403.gif) Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: DevilRy on September 28, 2008, 12:52:36 AM Chariot-riding Mara was in Shin Megami Tensei II for sure. You fight him in Kokuma Tower.
North America had plenty of porn games during the Atari days. General Custer's Last Stand, Beat em and Eat em, Knight on the Town, there's seriously tons of them. All of them are like the most tasteless things I've ever seen though. Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Japan probably had a pornographic game produced for every non-pornographic game for more than a decade. Very detailed hi-resolution titles. Of course pornography is not stigmatized in Japan as much as it is humor fodder. But it's amusing Japan's back catalogs are never mentioned when the media takes a moment to profile pornography in gaming :ninja: Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: yksehtniycul on September 28, 2008, 03:00:25 AM I spotted a number of accounts like these by surfing thru friendlists. I thought they were a little too weird to warrant sharing however :sweatdrop:
I guess they're kinda like cosplaying  PS: No offense if any of our members/readers operate these accounts  Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: DevilRy on September 28, 2008, 03:11:06 AM Yeah, it looks like someone just made them when the games came out and forgot about them.
Weird is fair game for me. Back when Myspace first came out I made a habit of finding the absolute weirdest people with listed profiles. I'm pretty sure this was before you could set your profile to private. Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? I don't think I've ever seen a complete compendium of SH Devil artwork  Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: yksehtniycul on September 28, 2008, 05:34:03 PM :eek:Anyone know what's up with the spanking men attack?
PS: Seems to say it prevents the enemy from escaping. I guess it was just used for comic effect then  Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? As near as I can tell though, a lot of the demons are just touched up illustrations from previous games. You can so tell this is when digital artists were first messing around with masking layers. :static: Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: yksehtniycul on September 28, 2008, 05:43:41 PM Well I've seen many compendiums I think, but I'm always seeing new SH Devils that I've never seen before, so they must've been incomplete I can only presume :sweatdrop:

I'm pretty sure Emilio has rips of sprites from the game though. Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: yksehtniycul on September 28, 2008, 06:39:41 PM I owned a hard copy of the DS1 special edition / akumazensho disc for a little while.
SH isn't in the spreadsheet file Emilio sent me. Speaking of which, I guess the next point of order is the Demonary... Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: DevilRy on September 28, 2008, 07:50:51 PM Izanami in Persona 4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMTgqeMquHc Be warned, this video will make you want to barf. I liked Persona because it was precisely the opposite of this sort of clichéd anime bullshit. A bear character who says "bear" at the end of every sentence? And why are the Persona demons from Shin Megami Tensei? There's literally hundreds of original Persona they could have brought back from the previous games... I mean if they were going to do that anyway it only makes sense to be consistent within the series. God, just... ugh. Why, Atlus? WHY??? Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Post by: yksehtniycul on September 28, 2008, 08:19:27 PM Yeah, using the Shin Megami Devils as Persona was a deal breaker for me. Otherwise I would've happily parted company with my mammon stamps.
I'm curious if the production illustrations of the Shin Megami Devils on the stat screens were all new for P3, or if they were from another game as well? Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? The rest seemed the product of some blind-folded dart throwing or possibly some more creative sort of divination... probably involving some S&M antics :gimp: Title: Re: Megaten meets Myspace.com?? Some of them are newer, but the only strictly new ones are the Soejima illos. The rest are culled from previous Megaten games, just with a bit of snazzed up color like what they did with Soul Hackers. You could probably count the new ones with your fingers. |
