Another trailer with a little more explaining what is going on in the sequel.
They also mentioned,which was stated a while back during the confirmation of the sequel,that Raidou would be thrown in Nocturne?
Well it seems it is true in that clip towards the end,and the box cover art as well.

Basically,they're remaking Nocturne just for Raidou added in there?
Honestly,I don't have a problem playing Nocturne all over again...but if Raidou's role is as small as it was with Dante's,I'd rather stick to clips on youtube just so I can see what Raidou does.

Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon looks great although it was overshadowed by that last few seconds in that trailer. Nocturne Maniax Chronicles Edition GREAT Nocturne was my favorite SMT game released for the PS2 and having added gameplay and scenes is very much welcome... Although will this be slated for a NA release? But alas both games are keeping me excited!!!

I guess it would be some kind of "FES" style, cause in the cover you can see the "Devil Summoner Kuzunoha Raidou Vs. King Abaddon PLUS"

Haven't read the thread yet, but is there any clue yet why on earth the Nocturne like character is on the "Plus" graphic?

I really love how Raidou can now use battle abilities and some kind of a dash. It looks this game will have much more action than the previous one.

I think I remember seeing in a trailer Raidou can use magic and summon up to 2 devils now.

Awesome.Just watched the clip from the link Emilio showed.

It also seems Raidou has a voice now....atleast when he is attacking.I don't think he said Anything in the last game.
But I also like the combo attack he does as well.It definately shows some improvement.

Apparently the 'Plus' edition comes with an extra: Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne Maniacs Chronicle Edition.  The regular version comes with a soundtrack CD.  The author neglects to mention what the 'Nocturne Maniacs Chronicle Edition' is exactly...

The rumor on most Japanese blogs is that it's a version of Maniacs where Raidou replaces Dante.

So in other words, it probaly be SMT Nocturne Maniax, the whole game, but instead of Dante, Raidou? Sounds good.

If it's reasonable to import I might buy that set... since I don't have a Nocturne, and Maniax sounds good, but Dante sounds Dun Dun Dumb :eek:

I never got to try out Nocturne, and from what everyone's been saying, it's a pure masterpiece, and I think this is the best time to pre-order that masterpiece. :king:

Actually,having Dante in Nocturne wasn't that bad really. I haven't heard much complaining from those who have played it and have him in their party,you either have him join or just leave him;You don't Have to have him as your demon team. However,I did,and it was fun.

In fact,I'm glad he was in there...if he wasn't in Nocturne,I wouldn't have ever been introduced to the Megaten Universe.
I also get the feeling the same can be said for new fans that haven't played the older ones.

So basically Raidou is in place of Dante? Well as I've said before,as long as Raidou has more of a role than Dante did,then I wouldn't mind giving it a try...I'm not trying to imply that Raidou take up half the story of Nocturne's or anything.I know Dante's place in the story was small,and it didn't have that big effect on the story...which I'm fine with. I really don't know what I would want to see Raidou do in the story...I just hope it's interesting,not to mention the battle between the two is what I'm looking forward to.

I think maybe it's a ploy for the people who thought the cross-promotion was in poor taste. So there is a version of Maniax less tainted. It seems practical. The question for me is, would this be more like two games for the price of one? Or a game with a mutant twin growing from it's abdomen :confused:

Whatever the case, the price tag for the 'Plus,' edition is going to be around $100USD.

I'm guessing you'll be able to import your data from previous editions too.  It would be nice if they added a few more Easter eggs to the mix, maybe an extra ending, a couple of Devil Summoner demons, a new Magatama, etc.

Maniax/Maniacs was too so I'm guessing most likely yes.  I have some strong doubts that the Plus edition will ever be localized over here so I'd say it's tempting...  Maybe as a birthday present to myself or something but I  have a hard time legitimizing dropping that kind of cash on a game that I essentially already own.

100USD as you said... were you quoting the retail price? Or your guess import wise? Cause it would be even more to import than the street price. I thought Maniacs was more common in Japan than the original :sweatdrop:

Granted, there's shipping but they don't charge as much an ebayer in Japan would.  I think one game would probably ship for less than 6$.

That's a sign they're worried about them not selling out. I'm just gonna bet Japanese aren't gonna pay that much for a game they already have (unless they don't have it yet) and hope there ends up being a glut of them leftover. Just depends on how many they're printing I'd reckon.

Well Plus does come with the ~NEW~ Raidou game so... ostensibly it's kind of a deal and a bonus to fans who didn't play Maniax because it was a limited release.  Oh yeah, Nocturne was rereleased as part of the Best of series in Japan so it's far more common *AND* cheaper.  Even in the US it was reprinted sans soundtrack CD I believe but the US version IS Maniax so it's the only game in town over here.

Well atleast you can take down multiple enemies instead of doing it one at a time. I also like how you can do a combo attack with your demons.

This is an odd place to ask, but could someone explain how Devil unions work in the Devil Summoner games? You know, the setting, and if it is any different from the other games.

Can't tell you how it is in Devil Summoner or in Soul Hacker, since I haven't played those games yet (only Soul Hackers but I never seen a fusion). But in Kuzunoha Raidou, you get the help of "Victor" who uses medieval alchemy to fuse demons between each other or in to your sword.

Victor is in all three games afaik, he's just youngish in Raidou as opposed to middle aged vampire in DS and caped Beach Boy in Soul Hackers.

Victor has a mansion in Devil Summoner, and in Soul Hackers he has a cruise ship-shaped hotel.

You can fuse demons like in the old SMT games (ie, threeway fusions produce different demons  instead of just leveling the demon up like in Nocturne and Kuzunoha Raidou).


Lucifer joins if you're aligned with Chaos, Satan joins if you're aligned with Law. They can't normally be in the same party (because their alignments are opposite), but the person (http://"http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/SMT2/") that created that particular video used a gameshark/code breaker code to put them in the same party.

I've played a bit this afternoon.  Near as I can tell it's just Maniacs with Raidou.  Haven't got to the Raidou parts yet though. :(

That was very interesting,was enjoyable to watch.Raidou does have some cool moves,very annoying if you're at that level or have lack of skills like that player did.Hitting with punches won't get you very far,but his physical was pretty high so he was never in really any danger.

Uggg, if people are gonna keep uploading ultra black clips... you'd think Youtube/Flash would get together and figure out how to add a brightness nob to the experience  :doh:

I stumbled across an option in the admin control panel which is required to make the [flash] bbcode work. But still it only allows embedding links to .swf files on the internet, and Youtube does not support that unfortunately.
