If anyone would like to appoint themselves to managing the front page news blog, I'll start getting it in order immediately.

In the meantime if no one want's to take this on, there's not much point in my working on it :sweatdrop:


By managing it, I mean actively keeping an eye out for Megaten events. And either writing up blog posts, or corralling others to do so. I can't take on that responsibility myself, but I'm happy to handle anything such an appointee might require.

So in review, basically since the smoke has cleared, I'm pledging to work on this if anyone is up to actually prepare posts for the blog.


I think I'm going to have to fully update the wordpress installation. It just doesn't seem to be working correctly, and I don't know enough about it to try to fix it. I'm not sure if it never worked right, or if something about the recent server upgrades are causing trouble. It does seem able to manage the fundamentals of posting, though it crashes a lot, but not in a way that precludes the post itself. UTF-8 encoding seems to be broken. So try not to use non-English/ascii character codes for the time being. Otherwise if you wanna post something, we'll do the best we can.

I kinda edited afterward. I think that might've been bad form. I realized later the posts probably go out via RSS feeds.

edited: Actually looks like maybe the post is updated in the RSS feed as well.

Btw, I wonder if RSS might bring some people back to the forum??

I'm in the process of upgrading the Wordpress installation. So the front page news will be missing for a little while. Hopefully no one will notice :smokin:

UTF-8 (non-English characters) are working now. I'm actually unsure if they ever worked properly before :confused:

Only major issue remaining I know of, is if you click on a post's title it goes to the post in a logical archive which is always a damaged page. IE.

I decided the Wordpress errors on/from the front page were just too much to let be. So I've gone ahead and taken the plunge Theme wise.

I've just done the bare minima necessary so far. The old pages are still reachable from the links at the top of the front page. But I removed some links of questionable value or of inaccurate nature.

I went ahead and customized the colours to match the current forum theme somewhat.

I'll slowly but surely begin removing the fixed bitmap aspects of the default Wordpress layout.

Unfortunately Wordpress really doesn't allow me to do this in the background. If you guys prefer I can put the old temporary/non-wordpress front page back up / give you a link to the work-in-progress front page.

Hopefully DevilRy will come thru and help us out with some colour :rainbow:

It would be perfect if the front page can be returned to how it looks before. :wink:

Sorry it can't be... we can't live in the past forever.

If you want the empty front page we can put that one back up while we work. But at least this way the news is still there :wink:

oh! ok, I just pointed that out. There's no problem about it, just that it doesn't look to good looking at the front page then going to the "game" section, for example and looking a whole different layout.

Well obviously the site is experiencing growing pangs. I promise after everything is reprogrammed, if we don't decided to re-use all of Tony's stuff, I'll figure out some way to access the site that way. He deserves some kind of credit, even though he's abandoned the joint :crying:

Of course I can't re-use his stuff if someone doesn't volunteer to break it down for me :ninja:

I will start looking for the "missing news" for the front page this upcoming week, since (I hope) I will have free time (no work for 2 days :smokin:), so I'll try to gather all the info I can and send it to you (and I'll also work in my manga).  :wink:

I'll try to bake in a better font tomorrow. The text underneath was Tony's. I'm not sure if it was ever used before publishing wise, but it's basically a description of the website for meta purposes and possibly publishing. It prints out very shapely on all the standard browsers, so I'll leave it alone for now :5innocent2:

I dug thru hundreds of fonts and was really only able to come up with one for the website banner... out of what I saw.

edited: Oh yeah, there really isn't anything to link to in the banner anymore, so I added a « Back to Front Page link to the sidebar for now.

I need the grey rim on the front page changed instead into a transparent rim. You can try to keep the shadow if you want, or remove it. But the shadow would need to be semi-permeable... so you should convert the images to .png files.

I'll have to eventually further break these up to give the page more freedom. But that rim needs to be taken care of first.


Right now I'm focusing more on the programming logistics / using Wordpress as a vehicle for all the site's content. So this work isn't necessarily a logjam. But someone please take care of it asap.

Also if you know how to do everything needed here, please save DevilRy doing all the work and help us out :rainbow:

PS: Make sure you always save image files for us as losslessly as possible.

The border shouldn't be a problem.  The shadow might prove to be a bit difficult though...  I could make the shadow semi-transparent if you want.  Or I could remove it completely or change it to a different color possibly.  I'll leave it up to you.

It's up to whoever works on it. If you take a screenshot of the page, you should be able to setup a test swatch for yourself.

If you know how to tweak all of Photoshops bells and whistles it should be pretty simple however you wanna do it :smug:
