Atlus USA have launched their official website for Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor. The site includes a whole host of goodies to get excited about, including in-game video, screenshots and information on characters and storyline. Currently only three characters and one scant piece of information on the story is available, but just seeing these videos should be enough to get any Megaten fan hot under the collar.

The website promises updates such as free wallpapers, avatars and, of course, more information on the story and eleven main characters that will inhabit the game world, so be sure to check back regularly.

Now go look!!!

Good job with Wordpress btw. I just changed the formatting a little so to make adding translations easier (all the translations go in the same post)

Woops, I thought the website url should be more prominent, and I noticed your original formulation had the link at the end, which seems useful... so I made some changes. Let me know if you'd like to change anything I changed. Even though you're an Editor I think, I don't think I have it setup for Editors to change published posts.


edited: Having the url in the post messed up the column justification bad (you might've noticed) so I stuck it in the title. Seems to work ok.

Visiting the website, I noticed the pitchfork font for the Es :razz:

I wonder how using Devil in the title jibes with what I think is Atlus USA's policy of not calling the devils "devils"??? They call them demons instead from what I can understand. Will Atlus USA be rethinking that policy now I wonder?? Is Devil finally a safe word in The States... in the 21st century?? :tongue:

The changes all look okay, I especially think the url at the top looks good.

As for the pitchforked E's I noticed that as well. With today's overly PC climate I doubt we'll see the devils in referred to as devils in-game. In a way the game already treads some thin ice with a few religious groups thanks to the imagery and naming of some of the devils (Lucifer and the image for Ganesh standing out in my mind). I seem to recall an argument somewhere about using the word Devil to refer to Ganesha, when the god is primarily a peaceful one in Hindu religion.

Atlus will probably stick with the norm and use Devil in the title and demon in-game. But that's just life I suppose. Using the word demon is apparently a lot more acceptable than using the word Devil. Which I find weird all in itself

I don't think devil is weird at all... demon seems much weirder. I think the problem in the states is just that now days fundamentalist hear "devil", and think "the devil" (or really their devil / aka Satan) ...which only makes sense used in the singular anyway. Demon sounds scary, devil just sounds like... "oh you devil" ...besides the real value is in the pop hook, which you just can't get out of "demon". Truth is in a good translation, devil and demon would be used. The diff though is Devil is a catch word like Pokemon... where as demon is a generic term. Eg. a horde of demons, versus that devil (as in a specific devil with peculiar/desirable stats and such)

All the accessible entities in the traditional games are devils. And that goes back to Digital Devil Story (same as the name of this website) ...so basically Atlus USA is stupid, retro-actively or not... or at least ball-less in it's inability to exercise any artistic integrity in the face of ridiculously trivial controversy. Ganesha is a devil too... less face it, if you're dealing with giant elephant faced creatures or radiant attractive beings, you'd be wise to regard them all as a bit weird and untrustworthy, ie. devils. I rest my case :goodnight:

Maybe it's time to upgrade the Captcha....

Probably Chinese proxies... I have to use a proxy (for better browsing performance) cause I use a satellite, and I get missing images and incorrectly cached pages now and then (generally when the weather is not so great / heavy traffic hours) ...with FF ctrl+shift+r will recache the page for you. If you just want to do one image though, you can choose to view it, and then recache it, and go back (can save a lot of unnecessary recaching when things are really bad)

I noticed we lost the (hot linked) graphic for this post...

I know we gotta work out a better system for posting images. But in the meantime, can we find a replacement so I can upload it to the server?

PS: From now on when someone adds a post, please use the forum attachment feature to upload it to our server (do it for them if you gotta) ...That way I can at least have a copy when the post graphic goes link dead :sweatdrop:

Atlus USA ha lanzado la web oficial de Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor. El sitio incluye una lista de cosas por las cuales debemos emocionarnos, incluyendo un video in-game, capturas de pantalla e información de los caracteres e historia. Actualmente solo tres caracters y un trozo de la historia ha sido publicada, pero solo con ver estos videos debería de ser suficiente para tener emocionado a cualquier fan de Megaten.


                                 

El sitio promete actualizaciones como fondos de pantalla, avatares (gratuitos), y por supuesto, más información sobre la historia y los once personajes principales que habitan el mundo del juego, así que asegúrate de chequearlo regularmente.
