1  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Re: Persona 4 for ps2 on: March 20, 2008, 02:20:15 PM
A bold judgement for a game that has yet to have a hands-on preview. With what little information known to us it is far too early to call. In regards to development time, think upon all the big budget triple AAA titles that recieve a sequel yearly. The engine is there already and all that is needed is the other artistic sources. Atlus is a small team, but they are skilled craftsman and their track record has been nearly sterling. (Ignoring Devil Summoner) We also don't have the entire details on the gameplay to call it a mere rehash. I would be more positive on this Lugn, otherwise you may possible miss out on the best Persona yet.

Nope you thankfully don`t lose your account. I didn`t play for 3 months during the college semester and found my account waiting eagerly for my return.

Another great, and recent, asian film I dug was Nightmare Detective. Sadly finding it online is near impossible to link to you guys. Purchased through good ol` yesasia.

Hahaha. My post was similar to those moments in film, where the bomb is about to go off and the lead character slo-mo screams, NOOOOOO! Hehe. Yeah the violence in movie is crazy. (The scene involving the piano wire still gets me, haha) My copy of the X move was from a chinese bootleg stand, which I found in Los Angeles Chinatown. The audio on my dvd is four seconds later than the onscreen animation. Good stuff! keke The Tsbusa Chronicles bit with X is pretty cool.

The X movie isnt meant to be watched in companion to the series. In actuality the film is similar to the Escaflowne movie. Which means it is an abbreviated verison of the anime series. If you do watch the movie you will spoil the entire plot of the series in ninety minutes. Repeat, the movie is the series but shorter! My best attempt at preventing an X fan of being ruined by the movie. The film has crisp animation but it pales in all other categories in regards to the series.
7  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Tokyo 202X / Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne on: January 03, 2008, 07:44:19 PM
A friend of mine is a huge, wait H-U-G-E, Suikoden II fan. Back when he first beat it I listened to weeks of pre hype. So when he placed it in my paws I was super excited. But after an hour or so I turned off the ps1. I understand that rpg plots occassionally take hours for the story to kick in, but Suikoden IIs plot was so by the books. Main character and best friend fighting an empire. Check. Seperated from best friend later to become rival. Check. A mysterious girl. Check. It was a little too much for me. Rpgs for me dont have to be incredible original, see the standout Grandia, but do something different!

I havent found a copy of Nocturne yet, but I will eventually and at a low price. The only rpg I have been giddy enough to pay a high fee was Panzer Dragoon Saga. My saturn was getting no love and I had Dragoon 1 and Zwei so, yep. I bought it five years ago for around 80 bucks and have yet to regret it. Though it hasnt aged super well, ugh I hate the language the characters speak.  angry

Ahhh! Well any low intelligence npc is unable to see most invisible targets. The monsters could also exist within shadows of the npcs and use traveling people as transports to the next dark area. Alternatively monsters who have devoured a soul can take the form of those absorbed. You could also say that the mosters exist as tools of a corporate organization, and this company has established cloaking towers around cities. Monsters could also freeze time ala Persona 3 and move about during those periods.

Oh and all those Pen and Papers you mentioned sound great! I especially love the shoujo psychic game.

In DtotheD an enemy cloaked with the Greater Invisibility spell is almost entirely unseen. If you were meaning how they are logically invisible. More along the lines of story and such. Im reminded of Killer7 which had the enemies invisible until scanned. You could treat the enemies as belonging to a digital frequency that players must synchronize with to reveal. Just a little idea.

The price of Nocturne on ebay is pretty sickening. You should rent it from gamefly, and discreetly keep it forever.

Easier said than done, but I removed a good deal of conventional "tropes" in these types of games to make the game offer enough depth to the player to make the character he wants while not bogging it down in "rule flipping" (I.E. "let me borrow the book for a second, I need to see what's the difference between Boxing and Martial Arts") so the story can begin as quickly as possible.

That one line describes almost every campaign I have ever lead. grinani Initially when my friends and I began to play tabletop games we were new to the rules. I took charge of DM*ing and our first campaign was story heavy, but as my friends learned the rules they began to constantly crunch stats. Now the ratio of story to statistics, flipping is 1:5. (story:stats). I had mentioned that pen and paper became boring for me, and that was the reason why. I am happy to hear your creating a simpler system which embraces what I love, storytelling.

I would have to find the article but the people at Atlus are interested in bringing a Tensei to Wii. The info was from a while back so that position may have changed, but Baroque to me seems to point at a possible Megaten Wii game.

I:m currently watching BACCANO! and Darker Than Black.

Heres a nice little background for BACCANO!: http://www.baccano.jp/special/wall/a1024_768.jpg

And for the truly curious a link to the first episode:
http://www.stage6.com/Baccano/video/1748456/[Ayu]_Baccano!_-_01

The story of BACCANO! revolves around a bloody train robbery that occurs in 1932 America. Either by fate, or mere coincidence three infamous mafia families board The Flyingpussyfoot to compete for the trains heralded prize. What is even more surprising is the calamity that will occur on this train has been choreagraphed since 1711. I forgot to mention that more than a few of the main characters have existed for centuries, but this isnt a tale of vampires. Gorgeous animation and possibly the best fight scenes to grace the anime genre.

A lovely little Darker Than Black background:

Now for an episode for your viewing pleasure:

The latest anime series to feature the musical tasting of Yoko Kanno. I think that says enough. keke

Also I have good news for the thread op. Jigoku Shojo has another, third, season in the works. Shouldnt be long before we get some more Emna Ai vengeance.

When the Devil May Cry anime falls short in the action department, you know its in trouble. The enemies are generic ghouls. (bleh)

I just noticed there was a Planetes fan!!! (Gives a thumbs up to wirebrain)

Wow I:ve never heard of this memory system in the game.
