1  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Tokyo 202X / Re: SMT 2 help on: April 30, 2008, 01:13:57 AM
Interesting, I'll be sure to do this in my next playthrough. Thanks for the information~!

You won't be able to accsses some parts of the dungeon until you change your aligment.

Is that actually feasible/possible at that point in the game?

History repeats itself:
http://www.digitaldevildb.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=460

My favorite is MIP, of course. Perhaps my favorite game period. Nearly perfect.

Runner up's: Megami Tensei 1, Shin Megami Tensei 2, IMAGINE.
Most despised: Persona 2 IS/EP.

Quote from: yksehtniycul;7491
I just can't get used to how so many NA region players these days only know Megaten via either Persona2 EP or Nocturne.

If you identify with a long running series, why not bone up at least a little on the history?

I think it mostly amounts to laziness.

I have done research in the past about the previous games and all the others made, through this site:

While it is worth reading, it is flawed article. Besides, you certainly won't come away from it with any real understanding or feel for the games in question. For that, you must play them. :P

editted: Kongoushinkai kinda reminds me of the name of that place you end up in in SMT before the map changes to future tokyo.

You're thinking of Kongoukai (sp? maybe.), the names are certainly conspicuously similar. I've never seen this secret dungeon myself, and did not even know of its' existence before this. :/

There is no second play thru unless you're talking about the playstation re-releases

In SMT:If... the Akira path is only available upon having completed the game once before. It's been awhile, I don't recall if that used a clear save, or merely required the presence of an "end-game" save on the same cartridge?

(like the Lucifer Sword in kyuuyaku -- the LS might be in MT2 as well, never made it that far on the famicom)

I'm surprised! You should remedy that. :) I've never liked Kyuuyaku, I don't feel it measures up, especially where MT1 is concerned; I'll eventually play through each game in Kyuuyaku once, and then be happily done with it.
As for guides, Aleph is correct. Remiel's guide is a translation guide, not so much a guide for the actual game, its' systems, or its' secrets. It is also incomplete.

I'm genuinely curious to see how this works out, do keep us informed Aleph~! ;)

Mmhhh.... but my Japanese, I play the fan-translated version.
Thank you anyway. By the way, if anybody has problems with
this game, I'll gladly help.

It's still your best bet. :]

To find the guides search the game title in japanese: "真・女神転生 2"  or "真・女神転生 II". No need for additional search terms. Typically you should get at least a few guides from the first couple of search pages alone. From there, use Google Translate.

EDIT:
First link from google search:
http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/sss-3/shin2.html

Weapons and where to get them (bullets you wanted):
http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/sss-3/shin2/shin2_sord.html

Majin page (Does not have locations. :/ ):
http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/sss-3/shin2/shin2_majin.html

I've done a quick scan, and haven't come up with any Majin locations. If you want to try adding it into your search terms Majin is: "魔神".
5  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Tokyo 202X / Re: SMT 2 help on: April 23, 2008, 10:55:06 PM
I've yet to bother tracking down the Majin, personally; so I can't offer direct assistance.

There is no comprehensive english resource for SMT2. Your best bet for this sort of information is to look through the various japanese guides until you find one that has what you need.

Also whenever he gets on  he is trying to get stuff done but he's never really able to get on a computer for more than 15 mins at a time.

Fifteen minutes is long enough to e-mail you (the other active staff member) whatever  necessary to access and work on the site. There really is no excuse, outside the possibility of him being dead or in prison. Most public libraries have internet access.

I don't think unfortunately...
The only Megami Tensei which have been translated by fans are:
_Shin Megami Tensei (SFC)
_Shin Megami Tensei II (SFC)
_Another Bible (GB)

If you know others, please tell me.

Well, there are english translation scripts available for both SMT:If... and P2:IS.

Don't let the japanese scare you away from playing the rest of the series, most of them are quite easy to play without japanese knowledge, as far as JRPG's go.

Yuri just had a bug up her ass for no reason. I don't really know the details.

You've quite the mouth on you, considering. ;)

Quote from: yksehtniycul

I think you're referring to Yuriko? I think she didn't realize you're so sensitive, maybe there is a language barrier as well. You definitely shouldn't take gameplay so personally :)

This. It was never my intention to "bite your head off", though it seems that is how you interpreted it. It was a misunderstanding, it's fine, relax. :)
9  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Megaten Hell / Re: Persona Trinity Soul on: March 13, 2008, 05:52:01 PM
I'm behind by a few episodes as well, but from what I've seen, it's boring as hell.

I don't mind a slow pace, that's not the problem, a lack of anything even vaguely resembling substance is the problem. Not that I particularly expected any better, to be honest.

I wonder why the SQQ wasn't translated. It just doesn't make any sense to not hire on someone to do it unless parts of it seemed too risque for whatever fucked up reason to someone. Or were no-save dungeons too mind blowing for the 32bit generation?

The most commonly accepted excuse is that Atlus wanted to get the game on store shelves in time for the christmas rush.

A couple of tiny bits of the SQQ were translated, at least one boss name, and one of the cut scenes.

As far as "risque" elements, of course there was the Toro transformation scene/"fight". That could easily have been edited out, and even then, there are a few cases of nipples and penises to be found completely uncensored on Sebec quest demons.

Personally, I doubt it had anything to do with difficulty. Time constraints and/or simple laziness would seem to be most probable.
11  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Re: Opinions on Persona 3's Soundtrack? on: March 12, 2008, 07:28:29 AM
You're certainly not alone. I kept the sound muted throughout 90+% of the game's duration, I would not have been able to tolerate playing through it at all otherwise. For all the game's problems, the music is surely the single most hilariously awful aspect.

"Disposable" is a worthy description for the whole of P3.

Hi, I've been playing the game for a bit and managed to get to level 18 with very little idea of what I'm doing. It's been awhile since I made my account and can't really type Japanese, will a screenshot of my name suffice?

I set up a fresh klan advert, you should be able to join now.

I'm unable to play at the moment and will be at least a couple weeks until I can pull together a replacement gaming rig.

Weeks? Further complications, or just a longer waiting time for your graphics card than you had expected?
14  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Re: Revelations: Persona/女神異聞録ペルソナ OST on: February 19, 2008, 09:54:18 PM
I've (mildly) enjoyed what I've heard of her work, which for me, amounts only to the Never For Ever album, and a few tracks outside that. From what little I have heard, I would not agree as to it being similar to MIP's music. If you can name  an album (or a few tracks) that does have a similar feel to MIP, I'll check it out later this week.

As for radio/television, I haven't listened to/watched either in years.

Yeah, but where did you link to there from? There was a section with every P2 game ever released OSTs, so I looked for Revelations and found nothing there then gave up.
(emphasis mine)

Ahem, MIP.
http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/m

Why would you look under Revelations? Of course there was no US release for the OST.
