Writing Styles
Posts at Digital Devil BBS is required to be a certain level of quality. This does not mean that each member is expected to post a novella in each reply.
It does, however, mean that certain online writing styles are not allowed. l33t Speak, excessive shorthand usage ("u", "y?", etc), extremely poor spelling and posts consisting of nothing but smilies will be deleted entirely.
People come to forums to read. If they cannot understand a thing you're saying or it's a pain to make out, why bother at all? Please just use your head in this situation.
Obviously if one uses these within a decent post as a joke within reason it is not a big deal.
Language
Digital Devil BBS does not have censoring enabled. This means that, currently, no word is blocked from a final post.
However, this does not mean that one may go around posting racial slurs, insults or ridiculous amounts of curse words for all to see. The hope here is that people act in a mature fashion with this ability.
If a member fails to do so, he or she will be warned. Excessive or continued usage will result in a ban. If this becomes a rampant problem site-wide this freedom will be removed entirely.
Flaming
Flaming is not tolerated on this forum. Unfortunately, many people seem to have the opinion that someone disagreeing or debating strongly against one of their points means that they're being "flamed". That idea is not supported here.
Rather, any direct insults that are used with the sole intention of hurting feelings is against the rules and a warning will be issued. General nastiness will also wear the patience of members and moderators of this board thin. It's in everyone's best interest to simply be nice and constructive in their debates, disagreements and discussions.
Double Posting
Double Posting is a sticky topic. In most cases it's simply just rude and serves little purpose. New things can simply be edited into posts.
Double posting simply to bump a thread to the top of the list for new comments or asking why it's taking so long for a response is not allowed here.
However, if you were the last poster in a thread that hasn't been added to for awhile and you have new, significant information, double posting is allowed.
Use your best judgement.
Spoilers
Speaking of Megaten games can obviously lead to a lot of talk of plot elements. In many cases, members of the board may not be as far as other members in these titles. Please be respectful of this by avoiding ruining story elements and other developments.
Digital Devil BBS has a very simple spoiler tag that can be used to avoid such problems. By surrounding such text with [spoiler] tags the text will be blacked out. In order to read it, the user will have to highlight the text with their mouse.
If you're unsure of whether or not something you're writing will be a spoiler, put the [spoiler] tag around it anyway. Covering up something that isn't a spoiler is no big deal, but ruining important things for others is.
