Kagu-tsuchi is central to the plot of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne. The Kagutsuchi sustains an embryonic world till its power can be drained to fuel a new creation; Izanami and Izanagi also appear.

There was also an illustration titled Izanami in that artbook (Kaneko Works III i think) ...one way or another I remember the impression that illustration was part of Nine.

I hate to say it, but the Wiki is wrong.  Izanagi and Izanami just aren't in SMTIII.  Again they may be in Maniacs, but I'm fairly sure they aren't.

You sure they're not in there somewhere? Maybe do a word search in Masakado's FAQ at Gamefaqs??

Seems like if Kagutsuchi is there, those two shouldn't be too far away. Or could be the wiki just referred to some bit of obscured text rolleyes

Quote from: IanKelley
There are only two differences in Maniacs second time around games that are
worth taking note of. The first is that you can pick your starting outfit,
either the new, "hooded shirt" outfit, or the "classic" Nocturne starting
outfit--these outfits give your hero very minor bonuses to his starting stats.
The hooded outfit gives you a +2 Power, +1 Vitality bonus, and the "classic"
outfit gives you a +2 Magic, +1 Speed bonus.

The second, more noticable difference, is that in second-time around games you
can get your Hero's Press turns boosted by one. (So with just the Hero you get
2 press turns, with one ally you get 3, etc.) If you've "qualified" for all the
graves in the ADZ, when you enter the first Grave room you'll meet Kerberos, who
will teleport you to B666 of the 5th Calpa. There Izanami and Izanagi will greet
you and give you the Press Turn Bonus.

So yeah, they're only in Maniacs and briefly.  Have NO idea what they look like but I'm guessing they're probably similar to their previous incarnations, just cell shaded and polygonal.

I'd like to know what they look like if anyone knows. I don't even know what you mean by "previous incarnations" as far as Izanami/gi are concerned??

I thought the hooded jumper was kinda fun. Didn't know you could play while wearing it. Does Masakado make an appearance in this one?

Yeah, Masakado is an optional boss who gives you a new Magatama for defeating him in the Bando shrine.

I was pretty sure that Izanagi & Izanami were in the older games, but now that I think about it I'm not entirely sure.

Izanami makes a sort of appearance in MT1. But I can't remember much. In fact you might only hear her voice. Part of the game is freeing her from a prison underneath the dungeons. She gives you the ability to walk thru a burning area unharmed as I recall.

PS: I love Masakado in MT2. He's basically a giant floating severed head. For some reason I just every aspect of MT2. We're like soulmates.

Sorry, missed this post (This forum suite seems to loose track of unread posts too easily frown)

As for Kagutsuchi. I haven't played Nocturne, so I'm in no way an authority. But I thought your question was rather rhetorical, because it seem's like something is trying to "fix" the world, or at least rebirth. If I'd played the game, I could answer you with some authority about Kagutsuchi's role -- but as he is a final boss, I don't know if he's good/bad or indifferent, or what precisely.... seems like he could be any or all from what little I know.
Just trying to confirm my guesses. Thanks for the answer. smile

Erm... I believe you don't actually fight Masakado. If I remember properly, you have a bout with each of the four guardian Kishins, and then you fight Bishamonten. After that, Masakado shows up and gives you the Magatama.

Yes you're right! You don't fight Masakados, he only gives you a Magatama once you reach his place, if you're talking about Nocturne of course. But I don't know if you fight Masakados in Shin Megami Tensei II, I haven't play it too much, so I can't say. crying

I believe you don't fight him either, but my memory is rather sketchy.

Whooops...  Yeah, you fight Bishamonten instead...  doh

To my credit I haven't played Nocturne in like two years and it took me like three years to get through the whole game (I'm slow).

I dunno, this is pretty cool (did I miss this part of the youtube vid??)

Definitely not the way I would've played Izanami, but interesting regardless.

That is kind of neat actually.  So, one piece to Soejima's credit anyway.

Apparently there are multiple routes you can take to get through the game, I'm guessing this probably affects Izanami's appearance and/or additional forms and endings.

Too bad the animation is so terrible...

...and that Kumo character's voice...  crying
